DuitNow QR Payment

1. What is DuitNow QR?
DuitNow QR is a hassle-free and secured instant fund transfer service that enables you to make and receive funds nationwide by using a DuitNow QR code, which is also known as Malaysia’s National QR code. DuitNow QR is an industry-wide initiative governed by Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet).
2. What can I use it for?
  1. You can perform the payment at selected merchant or to a person by scanning their DuitNow QR.
  2. You can receive money by letting a person scan your DuitNow QR generated from AmOnline app.
3. What is the prerequisite to use DuitNow QR?
You must select the default account for the payments and receive incoming funds. To set up the default account, log in to AmOnline > select More/Settings > select DuitNow QR Settings > select your preferred default account.
4. How can I start using DuitNow QR?

To pay to a merchant or peer:
Launch AmOnline app > Tap on “Scan QR” > Scan a DuitNow QR

To receive money:
Launch AmOnline app > Tap on “Scan QR” > Tap on “Show to Receive” to generate a QR > Show or share your DuitNow QR code to your payer.

Note: If you have yet to set up your default account for DuitNow QR, you will be prompted to do so before you are able to generate a DuitNow QR code.

5. Where can I use DuitNow QR/who can I pay to?
Look out for a DuitNow QR code standee at participating merchant outlets. You can also pay any person who can generate a DuitNow QR code on any participating mobile banking app.
6. How long do DuitNow QR transactions take to process?
DuitNow QR payments/transfers will be processed immediately.
7. I pay to another person by scanning their DuitNow QR. My transaction is under ‘Pending Verification’. Why is that?
In the event of any unusual activity on your account(s), we may temporarily hold the transaction and reach out to you to verify its legitimacy before proceeding. This buffer period allows you the opportunity to identify any transactions that you don’t recognise.
8. How would I know if my transaction is under ‘Pending Verification’?

For all transactions conducted via AmOnline, you will receive status updates through push and email notifications. You can also view your transactions by filtering for the ‘Pending Verification’ status under Recent AmOnline Transactions.

If a transaction is marked as ‘Pending Verification’, our support team will contact you to confirm the transaction details before approving it for processing.

Once the transaction is processed, you will receive a notification. Alternatively, you can view your transaction history by navigating to Account > Savings/Current.

9. How can I cancel the transactions that are under ‘Pending Verification’?
If you notice any transactions that you didn’t authorise, please call our Contact Centre at +603-2178 8888 (Monday – Sunday, 7.00 AM to 11.00 PM) for assistance, or let our support team know when they reach out to you for verification so we can assist with the cancellation.
10. When will I receive the fund when someone has scanned my DuitNow QR code?
You should receive the fund instantly once the payer has successfully completed the transaction at his/her end.
11. Am I able to use DuitNow QR overseas?
No, AmOnline currently only supports DuitNow QR within Malaysia.
12. Any charges for using DuitNow QR payment?
No charge at the moment.
13. How secure is DuitNow QR?

AmOnline app requires device binding to your personal device before you can use DuitNow QR. This is to ensure that only you can access your account via your bounded device.

Your transaction will be authenticated with biometric or password. AmSecure authorisation is required if you make a payment above the allowable threshold set by the Bank.

14. What is the allowable daily limit?

It depends on the personal limit that you set for this transaction type. Go to AmOnline App > Tap on “More” > Tap on “Transaction Limit” > Select Transfer > Refer to “DuitNow Transfer/DuitNow QR/IBG” personal limit.

The maximum allowable limit is RM50,000 and this limit is shared among DuitNow Transfer, DuitNow QR and IBG transactions per day.

E.g. If you have performed IBG transactions of RM20,000 for the day, the remaining limit for DuitNow and QR will be RM30,000.

Please note that you need to serve cooling-off period if you increase your transaction limit. Refer to “Transaction Limit” FAQ for more details.

15. Why do I get prompted to enter the password when I perform a DuitNow QR payment?
Please check your personal limit for “Quick Access Limit” at Transaction Limit Settings. For payment above the Quick Access Limit, password authentication is required for security reasons.
16. The merchant or I, have made an erroneous transaction. What should I do?
If you are at the merchant’s premise, kindly settle the dispute with the merchant directly. If there is a need for further investigation, kindly report this matter to AmBank Contact Centre at +603-2178 8888.
17. How can I view the details of my past payment transactions?
You can view the details at Recent AmOnline Transactions or your account Transaction History.
18. How do I share transaction receipt of the payment that I just made?
After making a payment, you can tap on the ‘Share Receipt’ button. Alternatively, you can view your transaction in Recent AmOnline Transactions to view and share the receipt.
