AmBank Group wishes you a Happy Deepavali filled with peace, joy and endless prosperity. Inspired by the festival's message of light triumphing over darkness, this year's packet design features a radiant peacock feather, symbolising beauty, wisdom and enlightenment, set against a vibrant landscape adorned with batik-inspired motifs that celebrate Malaysia's rich cultural heritage and unity.

The undulating mountains signifies resilience, growth and the journey towards new possibilities, while the warm hues capture the radiant joy of the celebration. On the reverse, AmBank Group's beloved mascot, Aman the Camel, represents perseverance and unwavering support, reflecting our commitment to journey alongside the communities we serve, supporting growth and progress through every celebration and challenge.

Together, they tell a story of perseverance, growth and renewal, celebrating the light that unites communities and inspires progress.

Design and Story

Mandala
Symbolising harmony, prosperity and interconnectedness. Inspired by traditional rangoli art, it reflects the spirit of Deepavali, celebrating unity, positivity and the beauty of coming together as one community.
Peacock Feather
Reflecting insight, spiritual growth and the pursuit of knowledge–encouraging us to move forward with clarity and purpose.
Diya
Symbolising the light of Deepavali, representing optimism, positivity and brighter possibilities ahead.
As the Festival of Lights illuminates homes and hearts, may this Deepavali inspire renewed hope, meaningful connections and prosperous new beginnings.

Every Deepavali, Amma is showered with compliments by her multiracial neighbours, Auntie Mei and Kak Siti, for her razor-sharp, immaculate saree pleats.

However, the family harbours a comical secret: Amma has no idea how to tie a saree, and it is Appa who meticulously irons, pleats, and drapes it for her each year. While his younger sister Krithi openly dismisses the craft as tedious and outdated, teenage Kiran dreams of becoming his father's apprentice. Yet, despite Appa's patient guidance, Kiran is consumed by self-doubt and frustrates easily whenever his wavy, imperfect folds fail to match his father's architectural precision. Kiran assumes he is simply not cut out for the craft.

The dynamic shifts on Deepavali Eve when Appa falls while hanging festive decorations, leaving his wrist sprained and bandaged. Unable to grip or pinch fabric, Appa is forced to watch Amma resign herself to wearing a simple Salwar Kameez so he would not feel guilty. Seeing the silent heartache in his father's eyes, Kiran sneaks the silk saree into his bedroom late at night to pleat it alone. When the heavy fabric slips from his grip, Krithi unexpectedly steps in, revealing that beneath her years of eye-rolling, she had absorbed every single one of their father's techniques.

Working together overnight, the siblings hold the tension, iron the folds, and lock in the pins. When Krithi notes that their drape is far from Appa's textbook perfection, Kiran realises what their father was truly trying to teach them: having an imperfect drape made with love is infinitely better than Amma having no saree at all. On Deepavali morning, the siblings surprise their mother by draping her together. When Amma appears in the living room radiant in her saree, a stunned Appa is stunned, and beams with pride knowing his children took over his craft. The happy family celebrates Deepavali together, as the neighbours return with their usual compliments to Amma.

Because even though a tradition may begin with one pair of hands, but it lives on when the whole family comes together. With a little more love in every fold, every Deepavali brings us a little closer.

When placed together, the three festive packets reveal a single continuous landscape, where the mountains flow seamlessly across each design. This unifying visual reflects the journey we share as Malaysians—connected through different traditions and bound by common values of resilience, hope and progress. Just as every peak and valley forms part of a greater landscape, every individual, family and community contributes to a stronger future.

AmBank Group is proud to walk alongside Malaysians through every milestone and celebration, supporting their aspirations and growth every step of the way.

Together, the three packets embody a simple yet meaningful message:

Cultural Diversity. Shared Values. One Journey Forward.

Your Bank. Malaysia's Bank. AmBank. ®
