AmBank Group reaches Grand Finale of 50th Anniversary Celebration with Gala Dinner graced by Prime Minister of Malaysia

AmBank Group has concluded its 50th Anniversary celebration with a gala dinner at Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event was graced by Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The occasion gathered AmBank’s leadership, partners, clients and regulators to commemorate five decades of growth, service and contribution under the spirit of “Malaysia Kita”
In honour with its golden jubilee, the evening featured the unveiling of AmBank’s refreshed camel mascot, Aman. The mascot first made its debut with the AmBank contingent during the 68th National Merdeka Parade, displaying the essence of unity, progress and national pride.
Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Chairman Emeritus and Honorary Advisor, AmBank Group said “This gala dinner is an opportunity to reflect on our achievements, honour the people who have shaped our organisation and look ahead with optimism. We are pleased to unveil our refreshed mascot and commemorative coffee table book as it celebrates the rich tapestry of AmBank’s history – the moments, milestones and memories that have shaped us. As we embark on our next chapter, our commitment remains steadfast to support Malaysia Kita, strengthening businesses and building lasting relationships in the communities in which we serve. We are also honoured to have YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim grace our dinner tonight. His people-first leadership under the Madani government has inspired confidence across all segments of society, embedding inclusivity, compassion and sustainability at the heart of nation-building. His visionary role in driving the ASEAN Chairmanship positions Malaysia at the centre of regional growth, while his stewardship in elevating Malaysia–China relations to new heights augurs well for our nation’s economy.
For AmBank, this trajectory is especially meaningful as we continue to strengthen our strategic partnerships with Chinese banks such as CCB, ICBC and Bank of China, as well as leading Chinese entities to support the inflow of foreign direct investments into Malaysia. Furthermore, our collaboration with Huawei in bolstering ESG and digital transformation initiatives reflects our shared vision of building a sustainable, innovative future.”
The 50th anniversary Coffee Table book chronicles AmBank’s journey over the past five decades. The publication outlines the many milestones achieved along the way, as well as the challenges the bank has persevered through.
During the event, guests were treated to a special performance by Tan Sri Azman Hashim, who serenaded the audience accompanied by the University Malaya (UM) Band. The performance added a memorable and personal touch to the evening.
The gala dinner marked the conclusion of a year long celebration that highlights AmBank’s journey alongside the nation. The bank now continues to grow with a new chapter that focuses on sustainability, innovation and nation-building with customers and communities across Malaysia.
