DEBIT CARD ACTIVATION FOR ONLINE OR OVERSEAS SPEND

 

Cardholders are required to activate the Debit Card before performing the following transactions:
  • Online spend
  • Overseas spend

 

You can easily activate this anytime and anywhere, using the AmOnline app or web.
(A) For AmOnline Mobile App:
 

Log on to AmOnline and select the Debit Card to proceed.

 

Click on 'Settings', go to 'Allow Online Purchases' and swipe the defaulted 'NO' button to 'YES'.

 

A TAC will be automatically sent to your registered mobile number. Perform TAC Verification.

 

Card successfully activated for online purchases and/or overseas spending.

(B) For AmOnline Web Browser:
 

Logon to AmOnline and select the Debit Card to proceed.

 

Click on 'Settings', go to 'Allow Online Purchases' and swipe the defaulted 'NO' button to 'YES'.

Will the change in debit card usage settings to allow online/overseas spend take effect immediately?

Yes, once activated, it can be used immediately for online/overseas transactions.

Do I need to activate my debit card each and every time if I want to use it for online/overseas spend?

No, you only need to activate your debit card once, and the debit card will be perpetually activated, until you choose to deactivate the usage in Settings.

What happens if I failed to activate my debit card for online/overseas spend?

In this case, all your online/overseas transactions will be declined.

What are the risks if I choose to activate my card for Online/Overseas usage?

When an online transaction (Card-Not-Present transaction) or overseas transaction is performed, there is a risk of cardholder data being compromised or the card information being used for unauthorised purchases and/or cash withdrawals. As the card acceptance procedures at POS terminal may vary from country to country, the risk of your card data being compromised is relatively higher in certain countries which will result in unauthorised/fraudulent transactions.
